Rhodes is the fourth largest island in Greece. The landscape is particularly characterized by mountains and pine forests. The mountains reach the coasts and mostly drop steeply to the sea. Windsurfers and kiters will be happy on the island of Rhodes, because there are several fantastic surf spots. Trianda is located on the beach of Ialyssos, in the northwest of Rhodes. Weather during the travel period

RETTER Sports recommends you to plan your surfing vacation on Rhodes in the months of May to October. The best and windiest time to travel are the summer months.

The best time to travel is from May to October. Here you can usually expect at least 9 hours of sunshine a day. In the summer months, temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees.


As in all of Greece, Rhodes has a very mild climate. However, it is not so dry and hot on Rhodes, as winds can reach the detached island relatively well.

Rhodes is a jewel among the Greek islands. The island is the perfect destination to combine a relaxing beach vacation with culture. The island is not lacking in culture: the medieval old town, the Acropolis of Lindos and the ruins of ancient cities await you on the island steeped in history. The old town of Rhodes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Customs and rules

In Greece, and especially in Rhodes, people are very aware of the rich historical and cultural heritage. The Greek Orthodox Church exerts a strong influence, especially in rural areas.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all public transport, public buildings, bars and restaurants.

It is customary in restaurants to tip 5% if the tip is not already included in the bill.
