Huvadhoo Atoll
Maldives
General info
The pancake-shaped atolls of the Maldives are coral formations that formed on the edges of volcanic peaks. These peaks then subsided, leaving the characteristic ring-shaped atolls growing around the original coastline. This texture has created a playground for surfers, full of reef passes and magnificent surf spots.

Location
Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll (South Huvadhoo Atoll) has an exposed south coast with a dozen very good reef passes. The area with its exclusive resorts and surf charter boats is very luxurious and not cheap, but in contrast to the central and northern atolls, only a few boats operate in this area; with a little luck you will still surf with very few people in the water.
Spot Check
From Malé you will take a domestic flight either to Kooddoo or after Kaadedhdhoo. From there you will be taken by speedboat or donhi to the resort or on the boat.
On the domestic flight you don't pay a fee for the boards as long as 20 kg total luggage weight and 7 feet (2.13 meters) board length are not exceeded - so pack light! And the beautiful view from the plane is free!
