Accommodation& Catering
The charming complex of the Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife, which is run by German operators, has a total of 75 rooms spread over three floors. Amenities include an inviting reception hall with a reception desk, an elevator, an Internet corner (for a fee) and free WLAN. Furthermore, there is a restaurant, two bars, a cozy lounge, an event room, a cafeteria, and a gift store.
In the beautifully planted outdoor area you will find a seawater swimming pool, a pool/snack bar and a sun terrace. Here you will find sunbeds and umbrellas free of charge to really relax after surfing.
Room types
The double rooms offer a comfortable stay and are tastefully furnished with pine furniture. They have a private bathroom with toilet, telephone, rental safe, satellite TV (with about three German-language channels) and a balcony or terrace. On request you can also book a double room with sea view.
The single rooms are slightly smaller than the double rooms, but have the same facilities. Thus, they also offer a pleasant ambience for a relaxing stay.
Catering
Bookable with breakfast or half board. Rich breakfast buffet, with half board additionally dinner with choice of menu and salad buffet.
Equipment
The surf center Playa Sur Tenerife, operated by Klaus & Marion Gahmig, is located next to the Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife and offers a fixed board system with the possibility to change if available. Modern boards from Naish as well as Naish sails in sizes from 3.0 to 8.0 m² are available.
The kite station in El Medano is integrated in the surf center Playa Sur. Here you can rent kitesurfing equipment, book courses and also arrange the storage of the kite equipment.

Interesting spots/trails
El Medano, in the southeast of Tenerife, is known for its constant and strong wind. The north-east trade wind blows here with almost one hundred percent certainty, especially in summer. But also during the winter half year you should not disregard Tenerife as a surf destination, because there are more than 300 windy days per year.
El Medano beach is made of smooth, fine-grained sand and slopes gently, so surfing shoes are not required. The area where you can stand extends for about 20 meters, and the enclosed bay is free of dangerous currents. The waves at El Medano are moderate with a moderate shorebreak and break across the wind direction into the bay. Crossing the wave is possible on a half-wind course. However, it is important to master the safe launch from the beach.
