Because Tobago, the smaller of the two Caribbean islands that make up the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, is considered one of the most untouched islands in the Caribbean. And just the right destination for those who still have surfing in the Caribbean on their to-do list. Because Tobago offers a excellent Caribbean windsurfing or kitesurfing vacation with paradisiacal natural beaches, a huge uncrowded sailing lagoon, Shallow water and wave spots on the reef. Barcolet Beach Club: Directly on the beach and only 20 minutes from the airport and the kitesurfing spot Pigeon Point lies the exclusive Boutiquehotel Barcolet Beach Club. Austrian Reinhold Knapp has created a stylish retreat here that offers all the amenities for a Caribbean vacation. Pool, wellness area for a relaxing massage after sports as well as culinary delights. For all surfers there is also a shuttle to Pigeon Point.

Half Moon Blue: The little sister of the Barcelo Beach Club and the likewise Austrian-run Half Moon Blue hotel can definitely also be seen. The Boutique hotel has 10 rooms and access to a beautiful beach. At the hotel's own swimming pool is also a wonderful place to relax.

Coco ReefThe resort Coco Reef is located at the private beach "Coconut Bay" with an offshore reef, not far from "Pigeon Point", the most beautiful palm beach and kite beach of the island. After kitesurfing at Pigeon Point, it is best to relax at the Freshwater pool, at a Massage in the wellness area or enjoy a "Sundowner" cocktail at the Hotel beach. What more could you want?

When surfing in the Caribbean, of course, the culinary arts are not neglected. The cuisine of Tabago is characterized by a Variety of cultural influences out. This makes them particularly exceptional and diverse. During your stay you will enjoy a great Breakfast included, although half board or all inclusive is of course also possible.

Equipment

In the best hands for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Tobago: The surf center FBC Tobago - Radical Sports Tobago is located directly on the white sandy beach, just a few steps away from the water, in the breathtaking Pigeon Point National Park. The surf center has approx. 60 Boards Fanatic & Starboard, 70 Duotone/North & Tushingham Rigs to borrow. If you are a windsurfing or kitesurfing beginner or want to improve your skills, you can attend kitesurfing and windsurfing courses here. Furthermore Kayaks and SUP offered for rent. At the station there is also the possibility to book rainforest excursions, off-road bike tours and snorkeling trips. Alexandra also offers Yoga & Pilates classes.

Good to know: The surf center is also provided with all other amenities, there is WiFi internet, toilets and showers, changing rooms, sunbeds and umbrellas (for a fee of about 3 EUR/day) and a beach bar with restaurant. Campsites are relatively few, please reserve them in time. Surf shoes are not absolutely necessary, but there are small corals on the shoreline.

We especially recommend renting a bike or a rental car - most accommodations are about 25-40 minutes from the surf spot.

Interesting spots/trails

Pigeon Point is a surf spot of the extra class. The bay is due to the large standing area, the beautiful Shallow water conditions, the warm water temperatures and of the gliding wind of 4-5 Bft. super suitable for learning and comfort surfers. So if you want to practice windsurfing and kitesurfing in Tobago, you have surely found your dream spot with the surf spot Tobago. There are two different seasons: The rainy season between July and November and the dry season between December and June. Between the end of November and July there are very good wind conditions.

Tips & Info

Must try: The local specialties. Because in Tobago you experience different cultures. From British, to American, to Creole dishes. Especially popular are the local specialties pilau rice and Creole soups, most famous are sans coche, calaloo and spicy chickpea soup. And as a fitting final drink of the evening - RUM! Cheers.
