The Kärntnerhof at Großglockner offers a cozy atmosphere, warm hospitality, and a breathtaking mountain backdrop. It’s ideal for active holidaymakers and those seeking relaxation, with excellent cuisine and a perfect starting point for outdoor adventures. The hotel was completely renovated in 2023 and now perfectly combines long-standing tradition with a modern alpine style. The cable car station is about 700 meters away, and a free ski bus (bus stop about 50 meters) takes guests to and from the cable car. The center of Heiligenblut is about 10 minutes uphill from the hotel.

Equipment
If you already have ski touring equipment (including an avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe), feel free to bring it with you. Otherwise, the rental equipment (skis, skins, boots, and avalanche transceiver) for the day ski tour or ski touring course is included in the price. Please let us know when booking if you need equipment. You should definitely bring a suitable backpack for the tour.

Program
What’s included? You’ll enjoy three nights at the beautiful Hotel Kärntnerhof, located directly in Heiligenblut. In addition to the lovely wellness area, you’ll be treated to culinary delights! On Saturday, you can choose between a ski touring course for beginners, or, if you already have experience in ski touring, take the unique opportunity to join a guided ski tour with a local mountain guide and explore the surrounding mountains.
Additionally, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the Großglockner Heiligenblut ski area on your own – the perfect winter getaway!
Ski Touring Course for Beginners
At the meeting point, after an introduction, you’ll receive a comprehensive briefing on all the touring equipment. Special attention will be given to safety gear and emergency procedures. Then, in a relaxed atmosphere, we’ll start the ascent. All the essential techniques and topics related to ski touring will be thoroughly explained and practiced. The session will conclude with a descent.
Requirements: Confident skiing on black pistes, solid parallel turns in powder snow, and fitness for 300-500 vertical meters per hour.
Duration: Approx. 5 hours Ascent time: Max. 2.5 hours Vertical meters: Max. 500
Guided Full-Day Ski Tour with Mountain Guide
Join us for a ski tour to one of the impressive peaks in the surrounding Hohe Tauern mountains. We will guide you safely through the magnificent mountain scenery with a relaxed descent. Thanks to our local knowledge of the Glockner, Schober, and Goldberg mountain ranges, as well as current information on snow and avalanche conditions, we can guarantee a relaxed and safe winter experience. Depending on conditions, we may also explore the ski touring spots in the Astental Valley or, in spring, routes along the Großglockner High Alpine Road – ensuring a variety of tours!
