Customs and rules

Customs and rules

  • Moroccans greet each other in the same way as we do with a handshake. Tip: If you then briefly place your hand on your own heart, you are honoring Allah and showing a lot of respect for the foreign religion.
  • Even though Morocco is one of the more liberal Muslim countries, alcohol is not part of the culture here. So if you are looking for a wild nightlife and surf parties, it will be difficult here. The evening program therefore often simply takes place in the surf camps.
  • Alarm clock? You don't need one here. If you spend the night near a mosque, the muezzin will wake you up in the morning. Just the right thing to catch the first waves 😉 .
Security

Security

Morocco is considered one of the safest and politically most stable countries in Africa. Nevertheless, the rumor often persists that women in Morocco should not necessarily travel alone. We can not subscribe to this, because even as a woman you can have a good time in Morocco. Nevertheless, it is true that Western-looking women have a special fascination for Moroccans, who are used to particularly close family ties and conservative role models in their Muslim culture. Women should therefore avoid traveling alone in buses and cabs at night.
