Location
With an area of 369.98 km², Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. The northern shore of Lake Garda is located in the middle of the Alps south of Trento, the southern shore already belongs to the Po Valley. Often Lake Garda is called not only the largest, but also the most beautiful lake in Italy - but you'll probably have to see for yourself 😉
Spot Check
We recommend as the best time to travel the months of June to September, which bring the warmest and most beautiful weather. So if you just want to relax, swim, surf, bike or sail, this is the best time. At this time the northern part of Lake Garda is also particularly popular with surfers and kitesurfers: in the morning the Peler blows here from the north and from noon the Ora from the south. The two winds are created by the outflow and inflow of cold and warm air masses from the mountains and are an exciting natural phenomenon.
Culture & Free time
A vacation full of experiences awaits you at Lake Garda. The offer of hikes, walks, water sports and bike tours ranges from morning to night. And if you want to learn about the history and culture around Lake Garda, head to the numerous sights and interesting places. All this combined with Italian delicacies makes for a great destination that really has everything you could want. Since Lake Garda is, as mentioned, the largest lake in Italy, there are of course quite a few different destinations around the lake, all of which stand out from one another. In the north of Lake Garda, the vacation is characterized by nature activities. Especially active vacationers and nature lovers are attracted here. The mountainous landscape is a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers. The region is equally ideal for water sports enthusiasts. The south of the lake is the complete opposite of the north. There are no mountains here, but picturesque beaches and seaside resorts.
