In view of the numerous crises and negative events Armenia has already experienced, one could almost forget that this country at the crossroads between the Asian and European continents has a great history and an important cultural heritage despite all the tragedies. Armenia is also called the land of monasteries and churches - three UNESCO World Heritage Sites are located in the small country, which is half the size of Austria.

Armenia is also a true paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts and still an insider tip. Because Armenia captivates not only by its beautiful nature - but also by lonely hiking trails. Although tourism in Armenia has been growing steadily in recent years, it can still happen that after a day of hiking you are the only tourist sitting in an inn full of locals in the evening.

Culinary

You can look forward to Armenian cuisine - it is strongly characterized by fine spices, herbs, lots of vegetables and also nuts. Armenian cuisine is closely related to other culinary traditions in the Caucasus and Asia Minor due to Armenia's location. The dishes are based on beef, sheep, poultry, wheat and brewery. However, influences from Eastern Europe can also be found. The national dish lavash, a bread that is also a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, is often served as a side dish.
